The Challenge

Before partnering with Made Neat, The Wellbeing Food Company’s platform required updates to support its growing operational needs and deliver an even higher standard of service to its clients. Built with PHP, Laravel, and Vue.js on a cPanel hosting environment, the platform faced performance bottlenecks and operational continuity issues, particularly during high-demand periods. Additionally, opportunities were identified to enhance the platform’s scalability and API stability while aligning with the latest industry best practices in data management and security.

While the system was functional, addressing these areas through proactive improvements ensured the platform could better meet the needs of its expanding client base and maintain its commitment to reliability, allergen elimination, and client confidence.

The Solution

Made Neat was engaged to address these issues and create a more robust platform foundation. Our audit identified key areas of improvement, including security, performance, and maintainability. We focused on the following strategies:

  • Custom Infrastructure: We transitioned from cPanel to a custom-built Virtual Private Server (VPS), optimised for The Wellbeing Food Company’s Laravel-based API and its expanding operations.
  • Security Enhancements: We fortified the platform with advanced data protection measures, such as API rate limiting, enhanced SSL security, and upgraded third-party libraries, to reduce vulnerabilities.
  • Performance Optimisation: By optimising database queries, reducing third-party dependencies, and improving error-handling mechanisms, we achieved significant improvements in platform performance. Caching strategies were also implemented to reduce load times and enhance responsiveness.
  • Scalability Preparation: To ensure the platform could scale efficiently, we migrated to a dedicated VPS and implemented asynchronous job processing through Laravel’s Supervisor, enabling seamless handling of larger workloads. DNS management was streamlined with Cloudflare, enhancing both security and performance. Ongoing maintenance tasks were simplified by optimising database processes and adding data validation, allowing the platform to grow without added complexity.
  • Service Level Agreement (SLA): Our SLA provided The Wellbeing Food Company with peace of mind, ensuring that any critical issues were prioritized and addressed with focus and urgency.
